Our Seventh Baby

Her name is Thalia. The “h” is silent so it’s a “ta” sound, not “th”. Tal-ya. It means “dew from heaven”.

I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily; it will send roots deep into the soil like the cedars in Lebanon. (Hosea 14:5)

I love that her name is representative of God’s blessing on His people when they turn to Him. Dew that refreshes, nourishes, and brings life. God has been so good to us and our little Thalia is indeed a refreshing and abundant chubby-cheeked blessing from the Lord! We praise God for her life.

The timing was perfect—God’s timing always is. Our last three children were all born 4 to 8 days before their due date. We were certain this baby would come early too but she ended up coming in the wee hours of the morning on the 6th day after her due date. The hospital had a ban on visitors for the flu season and the kids wouldn’t have been allowed to come see her had I delivered early as we thought I might. They lifted the ban a day or two before I delivered. I also had one of my favorite midwives on call the night I delivered and the nurse was a Christian. It’s nice to have another spring birthday.

Thank you, God, for Thalia. I love her so much!
