Happy Mother’s Day

by Andrea on May 12, 2013

Today is Mother’s Day and I’m so, so, so very thankful for my own mother. This post is in praise of her. I love her for more reasons than I can count, but here are a few…

  • I love how clever she is. Mother (yes, we grew up calling her “Mother”, not “Mom”) is great at puzzles and brain games. She’s good at problem-solving and very well-read. She’s got a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Because she’s so clever, she’s very creative.
  • I love how creative she is. She can draw, paint, sing, write, sew, knit, cook– you name it. Because she’s so incredibly creative she’s very industrious.
  • I love how industrious she is. Mother can take scraps of yarn and make them into handsome sweaters for a handsome boy Tobin in his scrap yarn sweater and hat.or super-duper cute wool diaper covers for a super-duper cute baby.ThaliaSmilesinherWool Because she’s so industrious, she’s very intentional.
  • I love how intentional she is. Mother is not a wishy-washy person. She is purposeful in what she does and how she spends her time. Because she lives life intentionally and with purpose, she’s very generous.
  • I love how generous she is. She uses all that clever, creative, industrious skill intentionally to bless her family, her friends, and her church. The selfless giving of her time, energy, skill and talent, show us how much she loves.
  • I love how much she loves.  And here’s where I speak to her~

Mother, I love how much you love. You’re not necessarily the warm and fuzzy kind (well, you are, but just not all the time ;-) ). You show your love in a million different, practical ways. And each one of those ways shouts volumes of love into my life. I’m so proud of you and I admire you so much. You filled my childhood with music and art and books and adventure. You live life with vibrancy and pluck. I love spending time with you. Thank you for supporting my ideas and my dreams. Thank you for being loyal and strong. Thank you for setting such a good example of living life intentionally. I hope that I can be as clever, as creative, as industrious, as intentional, and as generous with my talents as you. I love you so much!!!

Happy Mother’s Day!
